Kinder Than Is Necessary

BEAR

All classes are at the same point in Wonder  now, and we will be finishing it tomorrow!  I'm excited to finish it, but I'm also sad.  What an experience this read aloud has been!  I just finished my favorite chapter with my favorite sentences from Mr. Tushman:  "If every single person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you will try to act a little kinder than is necessary - the world really would be a better place.  And if you do this, if you act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in you, in every single one of you, the face of God."

  1. hey again I know I have not postsed in a long time. I am really excited for tomarrow! I was really happy when we found out that Julian was not going to beacher prep next year. hopefully more people will post. so I think that Auggie is really lucky that he doe not have to deal with Julian any more and lots of kids are friends with Auggie! Auggie is almost popular! I am very happy for Auggie. Oh! I almost forgot! this is Carter.

    1. Carter,

Thank you for posting! I liked how some classes clapped when they found out Julian wasn't coming back to Beecher Prep. Since Julian didn't change, it's a relief that he won't be there to make Auggie's life harder!

  2. I can't wait for tomorrow! I am also so sad to finish wonder. To bad Daisy couldn't be here! :( I am also VERY happy that Julian will not be coming back. YAY!! I hope R.J Palacio will right a book #2. I really do hope Auggie has fun with Bear. :) So far, Wonder is the best book we have read! It wins by a mile because it is filled with laughter, tragedies, and much more to make a good book, into a GREAT book!

    1. Great comment!! Who is this? You are so right about what makes a great book, and you're so right about how sad it is that Daisy won't be there. I thought it was heartbreaking when Auggie came home from camp and missed Daisy sitting in the window sill. Bear is such a wonderful gift, though. See you tomorrow!!

  3. This is the exact quote I've had on my refrigerator since I read it. Caleb has been waiting to get to it for weeks. What a fabulous book for our kids to read and discuss. Love it!! Thank you so much for introducing it to all of us.

  4. How I love that Auggie's classmates stepped up for him at camp. It really changed the feel of the story for me!! Good, unexpected things can come from bad situations.

  6. Jenna,
Didn't that picture seem good for the description of Bear? ;-)I'm not happy we're done with WONDER either. :-( I LOVED that Henry, Miles, and Amos changed and became friends with Auggie. It's too bad Julian didn't, but at least he won't be back at Beecher Prep!

  8. Hey! Its "YOU KNOW WHO". Actually its Stephen. I haven't been on the blog that at all, but I now I know this is the place to be!!!! I know that picture isn't real, but I think the real Bear would be a lot cutier than the dog in the picture.(no offence to the dog).
