We're all on Jack Will's part. Jack is a hard one to figure out! What is the real truth about him? Is he really Auggie's friend? What are you inferring about Jack? Why did he say what he did to Julian when he didn't realize Auggie was listening? How would you compare and contrast Summer and Jack?

BLEEDING SCREAM! |
I have 2 comments. The first is that I hated when Auggie overheard what Jack said to Julian. I could just imagine how much it hurt to hear his "friend" say those awful things. I could feel Auggie's heart breaking.
ReplyDeleteMy second comment is a little off-topic. I wanted to tell you I started reading WONDER to my students yesterday and I even started my very first blog. You are an inspiration!!! When I read "How I Came to Life" my students saw me cry for the first time, although I'm sure not the last! I think they love the story already.
I love the description "I could feel Auggie's heart breaking." That's exactly how we all felt when reading that scene! I'm excited that you're sharing WONDER with your students, and I love that you're starting your own blog. Let us know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteThis is Annie. I think Auggie felt like he was being used. I think Jack said those things about Auggie because of peer pressure. He wanted to be like everyone else. I felt sad when Jack said that about Auggie. I would be upset if I heard my friend say something like that about me.
ReplyDeleteAnnie - Peer pressure is a powerful thing. Jack seems like he's trying to figure out who he really is. It's interesting going on that journey of self-discovery with him. He's not a perfect character, but he seems real. Most people make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from them! Thanks for commenting, Annie!
DeleteHi it's Carter again!!!!! I just finished the Harry Potter and i'm going on to the next one.I'm at the part where Aunt Marge comes over.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome that you're on to the next Harry Potter! You're reading some cool books this year!
Deletei am being bleeding scream for halloween this year and that chapter goodbye is sad and i heard someone say why don't boys cry as much as the girls and i think that the don't exprese there feelings like Christian and I didn't cry but Christian told me that he was sad and i will tell you something that i was sad because it reminded me about when my three cats Cody,Bryce and Ashley died and that made me cry a little at home because i saw some pictures of my cats and that made me think of Auggie and what he was going through and I feel his pain and trust me it is worse than you could imagine
ReplyDeleteGarrett,
DeleteI'm glad you got a chance to express your feelings here on the blog. That was SOOOO hard for me to read aloud. Crying in front of a class is uncomfortable, but I could feel everyone feeling the same emotions as me, so that made it easier. I've lost pets, too. I think that's why I was emotional. It's a terrible feeling. Poor Auggie - especially since Daisy loved him unconditionally and didn't care about his face.
